Tenpin Bowling offers no barriers! LiveBetter customer , Tim Stanley, has emerged triumphant in the recent Tenpin Bowling Capricorn League 2020 at Rockhampton's Tenpin Bowling Alley. Tim and his bowling teams were awarded the following in the Capricorn League 2020:
• Team Champions 3rd place 'The Champions'
• Team High Game Scratch 2nd Place 'The Champions'
• Team High Series + Handicap 2nd place 'Mighty Dragons'
Tim was also awarded for his perfect attendance in the Capricorn League 2020.
Tim has been bowling for 14 years, beginning his journey in 2007. LiveBetter Disability Support worker, Sharron Small, encourages and supports Tim in his participation in the sport and drives him to the Rockhampton Tenpin Bowling Alley every Monday evening.
Tim is nothing but enthusiastic and thrilled when it comes to Monday night bowling, in his words, "I like bowling a lot!"
There are around 80 participants with a disability in the Capricorn League that play Monday nights at Rockhampton Tenpin Bowling Alley.
In Sharron's opinion, "Tim has benefited from the popular sporting activity through being able to socialise with many like-minded individuals who love bowling just as much as him."
The Tenpin Bowling Capricorn League is a part of the National Disability Championships, who recognise Tenpin bowling as a sport for all. Tenpin bowling is a contributor to an active lifestyle and creates a community for social inclusion for anyone with a disability.
Sharron explains, "Tenpin bowling provides many people with disabilities an activity where they can learn skills in socialising and also helps them keep fit in a fun way."
"It is very important that regional communities provide access to more sport and physical activities for those with disabilities,” said Sharron.
If bowling is the way you would like to roll, come join in on the fun. Turn up at Rockhampton Bowling Alley on Monday night before 6pm. The Rockhampton bowling alley has wheelchair access to the lanes and special bowling ramps to help you direct and bowl with ease. When you arrive you will be added to a team of 4 and if you enjoy bowling you can choose to be part of a permanent team.
NDIS supports and facilitates Tenpin bowling as a recreational activity as it teaches a fundamental skill and improves coordination and balance. To find out more information about funding for the reaction activity contact us on 1800 580 580.
