Ready24hr Gym Yeppoon has embraced the season of giving this Christmas with $8,000 worth of Lorna Jane clothing being donated to Excelcare. This donation will be used to benefit women under 25 in the CQ region living with a disability.

Nissa Ramm, owner of Ready24 Gym, was inspired to make a difference in the lives of those living with disability to encourage them to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle. Nissa thought the best way to do that was to give them some confidence. “If you look good, you feel good and this is sure to do wonders for their self esteem” she said.

“It is important that we make these younger women in the community feel accepted and confident to be involved in exercise - whether that be attending the gym, going for a run or playing sport” said Nissa. Nissa wanted to reach out to these young women in a way that would make them feel special but to do that she needed a charity to work with. “We saw the opportunity to give back to the community and with Excelcare being so active on the Coast, they were a perfect match to be our chosen charity” said Nissa.

“I was fortunate enough to meet with some of the ladies receiving the donations and the looks on their faces when they stepped out in their new Lorna Jane active wear was something I will never forget. They were so proud and you could see the excitement oozing out of them” Nissa said.

Rod Hutcheon, CEO of Excelcare Australia is extremely grateful for the donation saying, “Although we are a not-for-profit organisation we tend to be too busy providing services to our many aged care and disabled clients to focus on gathering donations, so when Nissa contacted us about her donation of active wear, we were really excited”.

“To be able to empower these young women with the gift of new active wear, is something that these women will remember forever. We cannot thank Nissa enough for aspiring to involve these women in the community more and encouraging them to live an active lifestyle” said Ross.
