Excelcare's Monto Neighbourhood Centre will host a series of free community morning teas during Seniors Week in August as a social event to connect seniors from within the local and surrounding communities. It will also provide a platform to connect the older generation of Monto with the Neighbourhood Centre in an effort to provide ongoing support and/or assistance.
Intergenerational participation will also be encouraged with invitations being extended to whole family units of all ages and backgrounds to further support the promotion of the 'A Queensland for All Ages' theme. Relevant community organisations are also invited to the morning tea to meet and greet participants, and to share any information and activities that encourage and support community engagement, improvement and socialism.
Monto Seniors Week Community Morning Tea will seek to improve social connectedness through promotion of volunteering opportunities with services such as Monto Meals Delivery Service (MMDS). It is also aimed at reducing the impact of social isolation as well as raising awareness to the Neighbourhood Centre's services such as the Community Computer Training Program, which seeks to improve the digital literacy of community members and has been successful particularly to the communities seniors.
The morning teas will be held between August 21st and 25th. For more information, please call (07) 4331 7650.
