The season for giving is truly underway with Ready 24 Gym Yeppoon running an apparel auction to directly benefit local children with disabilities. The auction raised over $3000 for Excelcare Australia that directly provides support to kids and their families in the CQ region living with a disability.
Nissa Ramm, owner of Ready 24 Gym, was inspired by the various Wishing Trees and other festive charity campaigns national companies run and wanted to do something that really benefitted local kids, “We saw the opportunity to give back to the community and with Excelcare being so active on the Coast, they were a perfect match to be our chosen charity.
“The response from our members to the charity auction was great, and to raise over $3000 shows the support that is out there in our community for great causes like Excelcare that is often overlooked,” said Nissa.
Rod Hutcheon, CEO of Excelcare Australia is grateful for the donation, “Although we are a not-for-profit organisation we tend to be too busy providing services to our many aged care and disabled clients to focus on gathering donations, so when Nissa contacted us about her charity auction we were really excited.
“To have additional funds outside of our strict program guidelines allows us to purchase some of those ‘nice to have’ items that really improve the care for our clients,” he said.
With the healthy lifestyle theme that Ready24hr Gym promotes, Excelcare have already earmarked the funds to purchase some disability friendly sporting equipment for their children’s program.
